Empowerment isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a tangible, practical process of advocacy, skilling up, and mentorship that can help women rise, thrive, and lead.
EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique)
What is EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique)?
EFT Tapping is a five-step technique targeting Nine Meridian points to reduce or remove intensity of symptoms. This restores your body’s energy and brings it back into balance. This technique will regulate your emotions so you feel ‘neutral’ which is the sign of ultimate wellness and equilibrium.
What can EFT Tapping help with?
Anxiety| Stress| Depression| Chronic Pain| PTSD |Fears and Phobias| Managing Change and Transitions| Self Esteem| Insomnia|
What are Meridian points?
Meridian’s are the energetic highway in the body. Meridians allow energy to flow through the body, known as Qi (Chee).
How does it work?
Tapping follows a sequence often called a round, that takes about two minutes to complete. Lower intensity issues may only require 4-5 rounds, while more intense issues may take 10-12 rounds. Chronic issues are best addressed through consistent and regular tapping over time. There is a specific set up and pattern, it’s easy to learn and can be done anywhere.
Step 1 – Identify the issues and the emotion
Step 2 – Rate the intensity on a scale of discomfort, zero means no intensity and ten means extremely intense.
Step 3 – Create the set-up statement, “even though…” followed by two parts. Part one is the issue and part two is a phrase of acceptance. E.g “Even though I am feeling overwhelmed by the argument I had today, I love and accept myself”. There are many variations for part two which I can teach you.
Step 4a – Sit comfortably, take a deep breath and tap while repeating the set up statement three times.
Step 4b – Tap while repeating the first part of the set-up statement completing a full round. By the fourth and fifth round, your statement should be a positive affirmation affirming your abilities, inner wisdom, safety, self worth etc. E.g “Even though I am feeling overwhelmed by the argument I had today, I know this doesn’t define me, I forgive myself”
Step 5 – Rate the intensity on a scale of discomfort, zero means no intensity and ten means extremely intense.
Why does EFT Tapping work?
When we think of a stressful situation or unresolved hurt from the past, we trigger stress hormone (Cortisol) which sends us into survival part of our brain. Tapping the Meridian points targets the amygdala known for it’s role in the body’s response to fear, stress and intense emotions. This allows us to release blocked energy, intense emotions and rewires the neural pathways to the brain. Tapping sends the message that the event is not currently happening. You are safe.
EFT Tapping benefits and effectiveness
EFT Tapping is best used as part of a holistic treatment plan. The effects of CBT or other psychotherapies are gradual but Tapping gives immediate relief of symptoms and helps you self-regulate. Tapping can also be used as part of a mindful practice. In an article published in 2012, EFT Tapping reduced anxiety by 58% and depression by 49%.
