What Makes Women Feel Empowered?

Women who believe they are the masters of their own destiny feel empowered. Free to use their voice to express creative solutions and intellectual ideas in all arenas of life.

Women are most empowered when they operate from a place of safety and freedom. These fundamentals underpin the levels of empowerment a woman can experience and rise to. A woman’s strength honoured and incorporated into decisions concerning her welfare and prosperity is key.

Women, seen and heard feel empowered. When time is taken to comprehend the depth of their experience and rationale. When validated and celebrated, women are empowered. When a woman’s strength and power is recognised yet she is never made to withstand challenge alone, she is empowered. Empowered women create communities that rise to the challenge of unconditional judgement free support. Women belonging to these communities elevate to higher levels of empowerment.

When women are given fairness and equality in education and opportunities to create wealth, they are empowered. When a woman’s independence is a cause of celebration, she is empowered. When a woman rising through the ranks is no longer perceived a threat, she is empowered. When a woman’s mistake is scrutinised no more or no less than a man, she is empowered.

Where to start

As a woman, help yourself to feel empowered by developing self-awareness. Getting to know who you are, your strength and the position of power you hold is an important first step. Next step is to set realistic and achievable goals. Use your tenacity and initiative to accomplish things. Start wherever you are and keep growing. This will grow your self-belief and your self-respect. The more you accomplish, the more you’ll believe you are capable off. Increase your level of safety and freedom by building a network of allays. Use your voice to make an impact on the subjects that matter to you. Spend time on the actions that grow your confidence.

“I can promise you that women working together – linked, informed and educated – can bring peace and prosperity to this forsaken planet.”

Isabelle Allende

Empowered women matter and make an immeasurable contribution to society.

These women usually operate in life from a place of generosity. They empathise with all of humanity even those from completely different walks of life, with completely different shackles. Give their time and resource to elevate all. Pouring their energy to those who need a ray of light in their life. Empowered women provide home and belonging to all, especially the segregated or misunderstood.

Empowered women spread hope and optimism.

They embrace the discomfort and step out of their comfort zones knowing an elevated version awaits on the other side of the deep work. They are optimistic change makers. At their core, they recognise the power they hold but at times become afraid. Old habits die hard. Downplaying their superb capabilities and capacity. Yet they never allow themselves to be treated as doormats, nor can they be ignored. Empowered women take up space and are unapologetically themselves.

Next time, you have the pleasure of meeting an empowered woman, I hope you’ll salute her. Remembering it takes deep work to become the embodiment of empowerment. I hope this article has sparked your interest in becoming empowered.
